![]() If you want to control notifications of each app on your device, Metro Notifications should be a good choice. Well, hopefully the developers will fix these hiccups in the future iterations. In our testing, the app performed well and it was smooth all around but there were some sudden crashes at times. On the user interface front, the app incorporates Material Design and looks great but finding some features can be slightly confusing at times. To unlock all the features, you will have to buy the Premium version of the app through an in-app purchase. While there are tons of amazing features, most of them are locked in the free version. Metro also brings advanced features like floating mode (on supported ROMs only), downtime of notifications and more. There’s also ability to alter notification’s display time, appearance, icons etc. You can also choose to disable Metro notifications for an app you don’t want notifications for. It lets you choose a custom color, ringtone, vibration pattern and behavior for each of the apps available on your device. The app brings heads-up notifications for third party as well as system apps. Metro Notifications is a pretty extensive notification app, which lets you control notifications for each and every app. Most importantly, the app works like a charm.Ĭompatibility: Android 4.0 and up. The app is surely handy if you don’t want to go through the hassle of unlocking and checking your notifications all the time. It also brings the ability to edit swipe actions, use Dynamic Notifications as lockscreen and hide additional details. The Premium version of the app brings breathing notifications (notifications only appear once), night mode, auto wake, custom brightness, widgets etc. The free version is pretty limited when it comes to features and you should get the Premium version if you want to unlock all the advanced features. There are also options to change the background image & color and choose apps you want to be able to access directly from Dynamic Notifications screen. You can press hold on a notification to see more details. The app shows you the clock, time, a lock button that can be used to open the apps you choose and notifications. Similar to Moto Display feature and Lumia’s Glance, Dynamic Notifications lets you check your notifications without even unlocking your smartphone. If you’ve used a newer Motorola smartphone or Microsoft’s Lumia devices, you are already aware of what Dynamic Notifications brings. Since the app is still new and gaining traction, we can expect the future updates to make Snowball even better.Ĭompatibility: Android 4.4 and up. It’s sleek and it makes handling tons of notifications a lot easier. While there aren’t many customization options, we still love what the app offers. For instance, there’s ability to reply to WhatsApp messages from the notification center itself. Moreover, the app lets you interact with notifications in the notification center. Along with that, there are also options to change fonts, enable heads up notifications and more. The irritating non-clearable notifications too can be put in the hidden tab. The app gives you the ability to choose which apps you deem worthy for important notifications and which apps’ notifications should be hidden. The Snowball notification center also features a search bar to find contacts & apps along with toggles & settings accessible through a downward swipe. There’s also ability to hide notifications, which show up in the “Hidden” tab. The Snowball notification center categorizes notifications into “Important” and “Everything Else”. ![]() Unlike most other apps on the list, Snowball replaces your default stock notification center. Snowball is a new notification app but it’s very capable and our favorite notification app of the lot. Note: For third party notification apps to work, you will have to first enable “Notifications Access” in your device’s Settings->Sound & Notification->Notification Access. Thankfully, Android’s open nature makes sure there are a lot of third party apps that serve as a notification center replacement.
